GMF provides outstanding physical training to help you reach your goals.  Below are comments from our members (both video and written) from each of our training groups.  Once you've seen them you'll want to join too and all you need to do is click here to enjoy a free training session with GMF or just turn up 10 minutes prior to any of our scheduled training sessions in the park by clicking here!

Blue Training Group
Members in this group have typically not trained for some time or completely new to exercise when they join GMF.  On joining they may not be able to run or complete a single exercise.  Their training sessions incorporate rest and recovery time.  They gradually improve to being able to run 2km and complete a range of body exercises.  Just remember, you do not need to be fit to get started!  We can fit GMF in around your current lifestyle.


Red Training Group
To enter this group members can run 2km with ease and complete a good range of exercises.  This is the largest training group and at the upper end members will be able to train hard for 45 minutes in a range of exercises with short periods of rest.  They are capable of 8km runs with relative ease.  GMF is a social place to be so you'll be made very welcome by members and instructors.

Green Training Group
Members in this group are very fit.  They can maintain a high work rate for in excess of 45 minutes with minimal rest.  They will typically complete endurance events and other challenging competitions. 

Black Training Group
This is a small select group.  These members typically use GMF weighted vests to ensure that they achieve an optimum work out in the time available.  They require little or no rest, maintaining an impressive work rate for the entire training session.  To keep them motivated there is the elite fitness goal of attaining 580 points on the GMF Fitness Assessment.  Once they achieve this they are awarded a GMF Instructor T-Shirt

Completing the GMF Boot Camp gave me an amazing sense of achievement and has given me more confidence and determination to push myself harder in the regular GMF sessions and in other activities. On a recent tramping club trip after the bootcamp I opted to go with the fast group for the first time and easily kept up the pace and enjoyed it!  I knocked half a minute off the 1500m run in the fitness assessment and lost another 2.5kg making a grand total of 15kg in a year with GMF!  Mary Hines

At GMF we recieve a great deal of emails each week.  At least once a week we recieve an email that keeps us doing what we do.  This is one such email:

Hi Mike, Hayden and Roddy
Just emailing to share our success with you! We took part in our tramping club annual duathlon event yesterday (in pouring rain). We cycled about 35km from sign of kiwi to the road end of Kaituna valley road via Gebbes, then walked/ran up to Packhorse hut and out to Gebbes pass road again, back on bikes and down to Governors bay hotel (about 55km in total).  Last year we took 4 hr 10min (me) and 3 hrs 40min (Tim).  This year we did it in 3 hr 37min (me) and 3hr 5 min (Tim) but the amazing this is that Tim won the individual men's event and I won the individual women's event!  Everyone who took part was quite amazed at our improvement in a year and of course we have been telling everyone that it's down to getmefit!  Thanks guys!  Cheers.  Mary & Tim
